Juniors

Football has always been an important part of the St Michael’s school and Parish community. We are proud to be one of the few schools to be associated with a strong football club. Most children, boys and girls, play football for St Michaels. Joining in Kindy and continuing to play as they get older. Our kindy teams are arranged by class, so each class will have its own football team. This is a great way for kids to meet their new classmates and also for parents to make new friends on the sidelines.

  • Training is one day a week, on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday
  • Games are on a Saturday Morning
  • In addition to mixed teams, we offer girls only teams from U8 and above which play on a Sunday morning
  • Boys and girls of all ability levels are encouraged to play and we also welcome players from outside of the St Michael’s school community.

Volunteering

Volunteers are the lifeblood of St Michaels Junior Football Club.  We strongly encourage parents to get involved as a coach, manager or on the committee.  No knowledge of football is required for any of these positions.

Committee members

We are always on the lookout for new committee members.  It is a great, social way to get involved in your school community.  You don’t need to know anything about football, just a desire to help out.  We especially encourage kindy and Y1 parents to get involved.  The commitment is not huge, a little bit at the start of the season and then a little bit at the end of the season.  As the saying goes “many hands make light work’.

Different roles include Treasurer, Communications and Events, Equipment Manager, Registrar, Age Co-ordinator, Coaching Co-ordinator and Member Protection

Our teams rely on volunteer parent coaches.  You don’t need to know anything about football – we provide a lot of support in the form of our professional coaches who every second week will lead a coaching session while you support.  Then, the next week you run the exact same session by yourself!  All we ask is that you commit one hour, one day a week (a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between 3:45 and 6pm) – your choice….and then again on game day.  It is hugely satisfying to watch the progress of your team throughout the year.  Indicate your interest as part of registering your child or email soccerregistrar@stmichaelslanecove.com to get involved

Managers

Each team needs a manager.  This person makes sure that everyone knows where the game is each week and also posts the results on the system.  Easy – not even half an hour per week! Again, you don’t need to know anything about football, you just need to have a willingness to get involved.  Indicate your interest as part of registering your child or email soccerregistrar@stmichaelslanecove.com to get involved
